Hello from the two Jos!

Well hello there Darlings!

The Two Jos are here, reporting for ADA duty. And gee are we excited – and a little overwhelmed too, if we’re honest, but we’re taking lots of deep breaths and that seems to be helping. Thank goodness for the amazingly calm, generous and committed duo that is Carrie and Emily. Those wonderful girls are still working so hard behind the ADA scenes to ensure that the transition from ‘them’ to ‘us’ is as smooth as possible.

So who exactly are The Two Jos?

Well, our first date with ADA was back at the 2016 Brisbane fair when we attended as vendors. And it really was love at first site. Honestly, hand on heart (and we’re not just saying this) we were both blown away by all the creatively clever people we met that day. AND you were all SO friendly. We both felt part of something special – special and creative and warm and fun and inspiring and beautiful.

Like all good relationships, ours has blossomed with ADA and we’ve become the new owners. We know we have a big job ahead of us to make ADA continue to flourish in an ever more competitive market. We thank you in advance for your patience as we continue to move ever closer to announcing the dates of our upcoming fairs. Exciting huh?

We can’t wait to get to know everyone in this community and would wholeheartedly encourage you to get in touch if you fancy a chat about anything ADA related. We can still be contacted at hello@adarlingaffair.com

And finally, here’s our brief ‘Guide To Working Out Which Jo is Which’…….

Hey there I’m Jo. B!

I am super excited to be taking over the amazing A Darling Affair with the other Jo!

Here’s a bit about me…I am an English lass who relocated from good ole Blighty to sunny Australia nine years ago with my husband. We lived in Sydney for the last eight years before relocating to Brisbane two years ago and adding a couple of little additions to our family; our little boy Henry and our rescue cat Max 🙂

For the last seven years I have been working in the wedding industry running my own wedding business called ‘jo bartholomew photographer’. I absolutely love weddings and everything about them. I am so excited to now be part of ADA where I can let my enthusiasm for all things creative spread in another direction.

I can’t wait to get stuck into ADA and carry on the awesome work that Carrie and Emily have worked so hard to achieve.

As a wedding photographer I feel I have a really good understanding of the industry. I love that ADA is not about clichés or cookie cutter weddings. Its something unique, different and wonderful 🙂

I am so happy to be part of this awesome community!

xoxo

So. I’m ‘the other Jo’ – Jo Thompson – and, along with Jo Bartholomew, I am extraordinarily excited to be hopping on the A Darling Affair train.

What can I tell you about me? Well, professionally speaking, I love details, organisation and ticking things off my to do list. I’ve spent nearly 20 years working in events and marketing and have organised all sorts of fun things including exhibitions, conferences, charity balls, cocktail parties, book signings, golf days and ladies lunches (to name but a few).

Personally speaking, I moved to Queensland with my husband nearly 13 years ago and we now call Brisbane home, along with our two beautiful daughters and a slightly crazy cocker spaniel.

And that’s me in a nutshell. I’m over the moon to be starting on my ADA journey and look forward to meeting you all along the way.

Here’s to NEW BEGINNINGS!

Hello Darlings,

We are quite aware that everything has been rather quiet on the ADA front over the past year. Our little ADA family has grown, as has our work outside of our ADA endeavours. Since 2012, when we first started with nothing more than a hope and a dream, thanks to all of our wonderful vendors and event guests we have grown well beyond what we ever anticipated.  Covering 3 regions across Queensland, with thousands of followers on multiple social media platforms, we really do have to pinch ourselves to ensure that all of this has been real and not some wild crazy dream.

The time has come for us, Carrie and Emily, to move on from ADA. As much as we have loved every moment, both of us have a number of other commitments that are calling and in order for the ADA brand to continue to grow and progress we felt it was time for us to move on, and to hand over ADA to new, fresh and excited owners. However, we didn’t want to just hand it over to any old buyer – we wanted to ensure that whoever took over from us understood who we are at ADA, what we stand for, and would do our brand justice in the future. We crossed every finger, and wished on every star, and the universe delivered.

We have found the perfect duo to take the reigns in “The Two Jo’s”. That’s right, Jo and Jo – both named Jo, both incredibly warm and kind, both from the UK, and both more than qualified in both the wedding and events industries. Most importantly, we could instantly see that they are equal parts down-to-earth, and in love with ADA.

We have every confidence that Jo and Jo will take good care of ADA and all of you, our lovely Darlings. We also trust that all of you will show them the same kindness that you have done for us. Of course we will miss all of the pretty things associated with this industry, but more than that we will miss the amazing, passionate people we’ve had the pleasure of working and creating with. So thank you, truly THANK YOU to everyone who has come into our lives during the crazy journey that A Darling Affair has been. And thank you to Jo and Jo for taking on ADA – we can’t wait to see how it continues to grow and thrive with you!

So long for now, perhaps you’ll see us around (Queensland is a small world after all!).

Much love,

Carrie and Emily xxx
